Former student and Hollywood actress Paulina Chavez credits Sky Harbour ES and its drama teacher for igniting her passion for theatre arts during a KENS 5 interview. Paulina says she first started acting at Sky Harbour Elementary when she was just 7-years old with help from Theatre Arts Director Carl Dickerson. She performed in several productions and was hooked. From there she says her mom took over and helped her venture into film. It may sound like an easy journey but Paulina says it took hard work and determination. She auditioned for nearly 5 years before she got her big break in the Netflix series The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia followed by her latest role in the hit teen sci-fi fantasy Fate: The Winx Saga. Her humble beginnings are never far from her heart or mind, she still keeps in touch with Mr. Dickerson and even invited him to the set of one of her shows.
"I always try to help him out with his productions either doing choreography or anything I can do with the kids. They are so fun to work with," said Paulina.
Catch Paulina in season 2 of Fate: The Winx Saga when new episodes drop on Netflix on September 16.
